Artist Statement
This project was made possible by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC).
I draw inspiration from the colors, energy, and creativity of the four seasons. Each represented by one of the four panels encircling the central image.
My work explores the ever-changing forms of the backyard and the cyclical rhythms that govern it. By focusing on plants and animals as the universal threads that weave through this environment, I delve into the relationships and behaviors that shape these spaces.
Close observation and deep engagement with my subjects are central to my process. Through photography, I aim to bridge the divide between the outdoors and our everyday lives, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the natural world.
The images were printed on five 20x20” metal panels designed for hanging to create a 5’x5’ display. An additional set of five 12x12” metal panels were created for a tabletop display.
